Stepping into the shoes of the history-making trio will be no easy task. But for the musical, Arena Stage has chosen three triple-talent threats with a pedigree of theater credits to their name.

Holli’ Gabrielle Conway will portray T-Boz. The actress previously appeared on Broadway in the original casts of Lempicka and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, and made history in Six as the first Black woman to play Katherine Howard on Broadway. She was also recently seen in Whitney White’s Macbeth in Stride at BAM.

Jade Milan will play Left Eye. She most recently starring as Ali in Alicia Keys’ Tony-nominated Broadway musical Hell’s Kitchen. Milan has also performed in The Lion King on Broadway and in Las Vegas and previously appeared as a contestant on Fox’s The Four.

For the real T-Boz and Chilli, the casting marks a major milestone as their life story makes the leap from concert stage to theater.

“The moment we saw Holli’, Jade, and Stoney bring our music to life onstage, we felt an immediate connection,” T-Boz tells PEOPLE.

Chilli adds, “They carry our story with authenticity and grace, and watching them perform is genuinely captivating. We can’t wait for audiences to experience CrazySexyCool – The TLC Musical.”

TLC came to prominence in the '90s, and are credited with reshaping pop and R&B music. But behind the boundary-breaking girl group was a slew of conflict, including major money problems that stemmed from bad contracts that didn't pay them fairly for album sales.

Despite earning an estimated $175 million for the runaway success of CrazySexyCool, the trio filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 1995. "We're as broke as broke can be," Chilli famously told press at the 1996 Grammys, moments after they'd won two awards

They eventually settled a multimillion-dollar lawsuit with LaFace Records, resulting in a more equitable contract. And though the ordeal brought the women closer, internal disagreements threatened to pull them apart.

Then, tragedy came in a 2002, when Left-Eye died in a car crash at age 30 while on a spiritual retreat in Honduras.

In the years since, T-Boz and Chilli have kept the legacy of TLC alive with tours, albums, a Lifetime original movie and more.

CrazySexyCool – The TLC Musical is the next step in that. The musical runs June 12 through Aug. 9, 2026, with a press night scheduled for June 26.

British actor, playwright, director and broadcaster Kwame Kwei-Armah (One Love: The Bob Marley Musical) will write and direct the musical. Choreography will be by actor and author Chloe O. Davis.

Additional casting and the full creative team will be announced in April.

"Bringing this story to the stage is a dream come true," T-Boz previously said in a statement. "We have performed in a lot of different venues all over the world throughout our career, but bringing our story and music to the theater is a totally new and exciting challenge."

"We have some of the best people in the business working on this project," Chilli added. “Audiences will get to hear our story — mostly fact with a sprinkle of fiction — told in our own way, and of course it’s set to all your favorite hits!"
