Rick and Morty Season 9 has been one of the most intriguing seasons of the adult animated series, and the storytelling and distinct character development that both Morty and Rick go through resonated deeply with the viewers. For the last two seasons, that is, seasons 8 and 9, the episodes have had a particular release window.

Both seasons, 8 and 9, were released during May and continued a weekly release schedule for the episodes till July. In a recent interview with Deadline, creator Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder opened up about the release window of Rick and Morty Season 10 and also teased the future of the series.

Release window of Rick and Morty Season 10 and more details of the series

In a recent interview with Deadline, Scott Marder and Dan Harmon noted thatRick and Morty Season 10 will have a May release window next year. Scott Marder notes that Season 10 will release at “the same time” as the last two seasons and will “run all the way through”.

While teasing about the content of Rick and Morty Season 10, Marder notes that though they are “not allowed” to see the content of the upcoming season of the series and will be able to see it only after “it airs”, they have heard “good things” about it.

It cannot be denied that through the nine seasons of the series, both Morty and Rick have navigated through multiple life-threatening and complicated journeys. Each of the episodes of the series delivered a nuanced storyline depicting the hard work that went into making it. The Season 9 finale also had an impactful storyline that perfectly set the stage for the next season.

During the interview, Dan Harmon speaks about the steady changes that have taken place behind the scenes of the series. He points out that Rick and Morty initially started their journey during an “era of less accountability, less awareness”, and “less complication”.

However, through the years, much has changed. Among these, the most significant behind-the-scenes change has been creating a workplace with a primary focus on “collaboration” instead of the “amateur model”.

Harmon notes that even as an “egomaniac”, he was able to understand the significance and “benefit” of having people from art school, as they know “better than” him about “how to tell a story”. A healthy workplace has also been a priority for the creators of Rick and Morty, as Scott Marder points out how “tough” the series is as they “rewrite constantly”.

Implementing all these aspects in the series created a high “morale” environment for the show. Scott Marder has also pointed out that the response they received from Rick and Morty season 9 felt “rewarding”. He also thinks that the ninth season of the series is also the “most in-sync flow” they had with “the directors and art teams”. While discussing the field of animation, Dan Harmon notes that as it is “not slop," there is a “high risk” and “high-yield” situation.

The time it takes to create the series is also a significant factor. However, Harmon is hopeful about the future of adult animation, and he believes that animation can be an effective medium that can be used for “redeeming humanity”.

Besides this series, some of Dan Harmon’s other notable projects that can also be added to your watchlist are Krapopolis, Strange Planet, Great Minds with Dan Harmon, Community, Acceptable TV, etc. Some of Scott Marder’s projects include It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, BoJack Horseman, Unsupervised, etc.
