Boise State, Fresno State, Utah State, San Diego State and Colorado State got their wish to leave the Mountain West, but it's going to cost them a pretty penny.
A settlement copy obtained by Sportico indicates that the five programs will each have to pay the departed conference $49 million. The settlement was signed by the five schools on July 31 and by Mountain West commissioner Gloria Nevarez on July 29.
The agreement also indicates that the Mountain West will deduct and withhold nearly $10 million that was previously owed to each of the five programs for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons.

The Mountain West reportedly was looking to receive double the agreed-upon settlement amount from each school originally, before negotiations brought the figure down to its final number.
The five schools officially joined the Pac-12 on July 1.
