Madelyn Cline appeared on Today and freaked out over Sabrina Carpenter’s ā€œHouse Tourā€ music video getting a VMA nomination.

Cline appeared alongside Carpenter and Margaret Qualley in the ā€œHouse Tourā€ music video, which was released earlier this year.

Carpenter racked up seven nominations for this year’s VMAs.

Madelyn Cline cannot get over Sabrina Carpenter and Margaret Qualley’s joint nomination for a 2026 MTV Video Music Award.

Carson Daly brought up Cline’s cameo in Carpenter’s ā€œHouse Tourā€ music video during the Aug. 19 episode of Today. The Outer Banksstar said it was ā€œan immediate yesā€ when she got the call.

ā€œNo questions asked,ā€ Cline continued. ā€œWe’ve been friends for a long time. ... I’ve been a fan of Sabrina’s for a long time too.ā€

As their conversation continued, Daly got a chance to break some news to Cline.

ā€œDo you know that last night it was nominated for a VMA?ā€ he asked. Cline yelled, ā€œNo! Wait, what?!ā€ as she laughed. Carpenter and codirector Qualley, who also starred in the video, were nominated for Best Direction.

ā€œWhat?! I’m really excited,ā€ Cline gushed. ā€œI’m so behind. I’m sweating.ā€

Carpenter debuted her ā€œHouse Tourā€ music video in April. The three-and-a-half minute visual has Carpenter, Qualley and Cline driving up to a mansion in a pink ā€œPretty Girl Clean-Up Crewā€ van. The trio ransacks the house — and, honestly, appears to be having the time of their life — as the video goes on.

Last week, Cline discussed her involvement in the music video while appearing on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast.

ā€œTo look in the mirror and to know that I am part of the Sabrina-verse is truly one of — I feel like it’s one of my favorite accomplishments,ā€ the actress said. ā€œI adore Sabrina, I have loved her for so long. She is such a good, good person. She’s such a good friend.ā€

Cline recalled that the video was shot entirely on film over ā€œtwo full days.ā€ (Carpenter previously said that recording ā€œHouse Tourā€ was one of her ā€œfavorite memoriesā€ from making her Man’s Best Friend album, which was released last year.)

ā€œIt was their vision,ā€ Cline said of Carpenter and Qualley. ā€œIt was just two days of girlhood and a bit of this and that and goofing off.ā€

Carpenter racked up a total of seven nominations for this year’s VMAs, including the Best Direction nod. The singer is also up for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration (with Madonna), Best Pop and Best Editing.

ā€œI am so very lucky,ā€ Carpenter shared via Instagram Stories after the nominations were announced on Tuesday. ā€œThank you.ā€

This year’s VMAs are set to broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET/ 4:30 p.m. PT on CBS, simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
