A new Netflix series will give fans front-row seats to the life of the “Princess of Pop.” On Wednesday, April 22, the streaming service announced that none other than the ultra-beloved Kylie Minogue will be the subject of a three-part documentary tracing the Australian superstar’s life.
The upcoming documentary series, simply titled KYLIE, will reportedly give fans their closest look into Minogue’s nearly five decades of fame. According to Netflix, Minogue “opens her personal archives and reflects on a life that continues to captivate, inspire, and soundtrack multiple generations.” The documentary will feature clips from home movies and never-before-seen personal photographs, all interspersed with new interviews from the musician. (Netflix released a still of the singer on a porch, curled up in a fluffy white robe). Other interviews include various voices from Minogue’s life, including Australian musician (and one-time collaborator) Nick Cave, her ex-husband Jason Donovan, and her sister, Dannii.
Minogue is, without a doubt, Australia’s number one pop star (her 17 studio albums have sold more than 80 million records to date), but she first stepped into the spotlight acting in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. The docu-series follows her meteoric rise to fame through the ’90s, emphasizing her enduring appeal nearly four decades after the release of her debut bubblegum pop album, Kylie (1988). The series will follow the ups and downs of her career, from critics initially dismissing her credibility in the ’90s to her international breakout with Fever (2001). (Yes, the album with “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and “Come Into My World.”) Above all, Netflix revealed KYLIE “celebrates the joy, connection, and euphoria that make Kylie unmistakably Kylie.”

KYLIE will also explore how Minogue grappled with breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2005. After undergoing treatment, she was declared cancer-free the following year. But in 2023, she told People that she’s still processing this trauma. “I sing to process everything, I think. I write to process. I perform to process. And sometimes I think I live to perform,” she said at the time.
This new documentary was created by Emmy winner Michael Harte, who directed Beckham, the 2023 Netflix series about David Beckham, and Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, an Apple TV documentary exploring the actor’s life.
Netflix has yet to reveal a release date, so until then, we likely won’t get the superstar’s name out of our heads. But why would we ever want to?
