It's a busy time for the King, who just marked his mother Queen Elizabeth's centennial and is traveling to the United States next week
King Charles stepped out for an event on Earth Day to receive an award in honor of his environmental work.
The monarch, 77, attended an event at Dumfries House, the headquarters of his King's Foundation charity, on Wednesday, April 22. At the event, he received a Blue Peter green badge in honor of his foundation's work supporting sustainability and the environment.
While there, King Charles met with students who were participating in their own environmental efforts. He also reportedly placed a badge in the King's Foundation's time capsule, in recognition of the foundation's 35th anniversary.

The prestigious Blue Peter green badge is named after the BBC production Blue Peter, which is the longest-running children's TV show in the world. (It first aired in October 1958.)
A traditional Blue Peter pin has been given out for six decades to children and adults who achieve extraordinary things or do good in the community. But since 1988, a green badge version has recognized those who show they care about the planet, climate change, recycling and protecting animals and their habitats.

Prince William, Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth have also received the green badge in past years.

King Charles has been vocal about sustainability and the perils and consequences of climate change for decades. In 2023, he gave a speech at the opening of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, where he said, “In 2050, our grandchildren won’t be asking what we said, they will be living with the consequences of what we did or didn’t do."

It's the middle of a very busy time for the monarch. Earlier in the week, King Charles and other members of the royal family gathered for various events to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's centenary.
On Tuesday, April 21 — what would have been Queen Elizabeth's 100th birthday — King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace honoring her legacy. Among the guests were citizens also celebrating their 100th birthdays.
Earlier that day, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the British Museum to view a scale model of the national memorial to the late Queen that is planned for St. James' Park. The day prior, the royal couple stepped out to attend a new exhibit, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, which honors Queen Elizabeth's iconic fashion. King Charles also released an emotional speech on Monday evening remembering his "beloved mother’s 100th birthday."

Next week, King Charles and Queen Camilla will travel to the United States for a packed agenda of events commemorating the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence from the United Kingdom.
On their trip, the royals are expected to visit Washington, D.C., New York City and Virginia. While in D.C., they will meet with President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, and King Charles will address a joint meeting of Congress.
In New York City, King Charles and Queen Camilla will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks later this year by meeting with first responders and the families of victims. While in Virginia, they'll attend a block party to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, among other events.
After their U.S. trip wraps up, the royals will then head to Bermuda. That visit will be King Charles' first trip as monarch to an overseas British territory.
