A body language expert claimed that the Princess of Wales was allegedly “forced into” an awkward situation with her cousin-in-law. Their seating arrangement in the same carriage sparked rumors about “mutual tension.”

Kate Middleton reportedly once faced a tense situation with ex-Prince Andrew’s daughter, Princess Beatrice. In June 2023, the two royals shared a carriage with their respective husbands, Prince William and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Although they waved at the crowd and smiled, body language expert Judi James dissected the situation for the Daily Mail.
As per the video, the four were sitting facing each other, with Middleton in front of Beatrice. According to the expert, they were “forced into” accepting the difficult sitting arrangement. Reportedly, it invaded the royals’ “social space” and made things “uneasy” among them. “This is why you might expect them to produce some slightly overstated friendship rituals to overcome any inherent awkwardness,” James added.

Furthermore, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s daughter and the future queen’s sitting poses allegedly reflected “mutual tension.” None of the two reportedly exchanged glances and seemingly “ignored each other.”
The report insisted that the relationship dynamic between the two women was allegedly never friendly. According to James, Middleton attempted to have a brief conversation with Beatrice in the footage. Reportedly, it looked like the royals were showing off “some form of friendliness” for the cameras.
Meanwhile, Sarah Ferguson’s daughter was allegedly not giving her full attention to the conversation. “This suggests that either Beatrice had the expectation of being left alone or that that would have been what she preferred,” the expert explained. Referring to Beatrice’s gesture and behavior, James described it as a “body language miss-step.”
