The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday night with the first round and we’ll soon have the latest crop of rookies to sift through for fantasy football. Last season, we had standout rookie performances from Ashton Jeanty, TreVeyon Henderson and Jaxson Dart among others. But none of them were able to land on the list of top-10 fantasy rookie performances of all-time.
Might that change this year with Jeremiyah Love? Only time will tell.
Below is a look at the top-10 fantasy point totals by rookies in history, according to half-PPR scoring, going in descending order.
10. RB Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (2016): 309.4 fantasy points
Zeke was drafted with the No. 4 overall pick by the Cowboys back in 2016 and immediately made his presence felt in the league. He led the NFL in rushing yards as a rookie with 1,631, nearly eclipsing 2,000 scrimmage yards with 16 total TDs. Elliott would be a fantasy football staple through 2022 while in Dallas.
9. RB Billy Sims, Lions (1980): 313.9
To start the 80s, Detroit selected Sims first overall out of Oklahoma. He would lead the NFL in rushing and receiving TDs with 16 total as a rookie, winning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year after racking up 1,303 rushing yards and 1,924 scrimmage yards. Unfortunately, Sims’ career was cut short after just five seasons due to a knee injury suffered in 1984.

8. QB Robert Griffin III, Washington (2012): 322.5
Oh man, what could have been … Chances are you remember RG3 and that magical rookie season in which he led Washington to a playoff berth. Griffin was among the group that started the wave of dual-threat QBs in the NFL, becoming a staple of fantasy lineups. Griffin finished his rookie campaign with over 800 rushing yards and seven rushing TDs, plus 3,200 passing yards and 20 TDs. He would win AP Offensive ROTY but was another player who had injuries derail his career.

7. QB Bo Nix, Broncos (2024): 328.7
This season should be pretty fresh in everyone’s memory. Nix was a part of a loaded QB class in 2024, one that has produced multiple starting and playoff-caliber signal-callers. The Oregon product helped Denver return to the playoffs in 2024 for the first time since winning the Super Bowl back in 2015. He provided surprising production on the ground as a rookie with 430 rushing yards and four TDs while throwing for 3,775 yards and 29 TDs. So far in his career, Nix is 24-10 as a starter, though he’s coming off an injury this past postseason. But the Broncos are getting him help for 2026 in the form of WR Jaylen Waddle.
6. RB Saquon Barkley, Giants (2018): 340.3
Barkley was one of the most hyped-up RB prospects at the time and continues a trend in this list. He would go for over 2,000 scrimmage yards with 15 TDs and a gaudy 91 receptions for the G-Men. Barkley took home AP OROTY honors as well but would eventually leave town for the rival Eagles, posting career numbers in 2024 to help Philly win the Super Bowl.
5. QB Justin Herbert, Chargers (2020): 342.8
Herbert had some pretty big shoes to fill as the heir apparent back in 2020 to Philip Rivers at QB for the Chargers. While he would finish 6-9 that season as a starter in 15 games, Herbert was an immediate fantasy asset, throwing for 4,336 yards and 31 TDs. Again, another player on this list who won APROTY. Herbert would make his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2021 after going for over 5,000 passing yards and 38 TDs. Los Angeles has made the postseason in back-to-back campaigns under HC Jim Harbaugh.

4. RB Edgerrin James, Colts (1999): 346.9
Man, they just don’t make RBs like this anymore. Edge was selected fourth overall by Indy, one of the many notable Miami RB alums. He had one of the best rookie seasons by an RB ever, going over 2,000 scrimmage yards, leading the NFL with 1,553 rushing yards while scoring 17 TDs. He was named to the NFL’s AP First Team and would go on to have an even better sophomore season. Edge was one of the premier names at RB back in the early-mid 2000s.
3. QB Jayden Daniels, Commanders (2024): 364.8
Daniels is the second QB in the 2024 class on this list and the second Washington signal-caller on the list as well. Dual-threat is king and Daniels brought just that with 891 rushing yards and six scores on the ground as a rookie. He would also showcase his arm with 3,568 passing yards and 25 TDs to just nine INTs in 2024. Daniels — like RG3 — helped lead the franchise back to the postseason with a 12-5 record and get Washington to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.
2. RB Eric Dickerson, Rams (1983): 366.7
Dickerson was mostly before my time but is arguably the best running back to ever play the game. The Hall of Famer led the NFL in rushing yards on four different occasions, including his rookie year with 1,808 to go with 20 total TDs. Dickerson would go on to be named to the AP First-Team in four of his first five NFL seasons, making the playoffs in each of those campaigns.
1. QB Cam Newton, Panthers (2011): 386.8
While Randall Cunningham and Michael Vick are remembered as some of the first dual-threat QBs, Newton revolutionized the game. After winning a National Championship at Auburn in 2010, Newton was made the No. 1 overall pick in the draft by the Panthers. Carolina would go 6-10 that season but Newton would throw for over 4,000 yards with 21 TDs while adding 706 rushing yards and 14 TDs on the ground. For managers who took a chance on the rookie, they were rewarded handsomely. Newton’s career was up and down but he’d go on to win NFL MVP in 2015, leading the Panthers to a 15-1 record and the Super Bowl before losing to Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
